When the Going gets Tough…

Morning Mountain Sun

Here are a few of the quotes that I read when life gets difficult. Sometimes my actions make a mess out of things and sometimes the actions of others do. However, life is challenging if nothing else, so we must prepare for the rainy days as well as the sunny ones. The adversity that we face prepares us not only for more and more difficult situations, but it enables us to help others through their difficult times. I hope that this helps.

  • Obstacles don’t have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don’t turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it – Michael Jordan

  • A problem is a chance for you to do your best. – Duke Ellington

  • Tough times never last, but tough people do.  – Robert H Schuller

  • I love those who can smile in trouble, who can gather strength from distress, and grow brave by reflection. ‘Tis the business of little minds to shrink, but they whose heart is firm, and whose conscience approves their conduct, will pursue their principles unto death.  – Thomas Paine

  • The friend in my adversity I shall always cherish most. I can better trust those who helped to relieve the gloom of my dark hours than those who are so ready to enjoy with me the sunshine of my prosperity. – Ulysses S. Grant

  • When everything seems to be going against you, remember that the airplane takes off against the wind, not with it. – Henry Ford

  • I learned there are troubles of more than one kind. Some come from ahead, others come from behind. But I’ve bought a big bat. I’m all ready, you see. Now my troubles are going to have trouble with me. – Dr. Seuss

  • Remember that there is nothing stable in human affairs; therefore avoid undue elation in prosperity, or undue depression in adversity.  – Socrates
